With the end of the season at hand, we were able to take off the month of April and I decided to go on some adventures. While on America’s Cup this year, I made friends with the Panamanian Bobsled team aannnddd with no trouble convinced my boyfriend (Olympic Luge Athlete Chris Mazdzer) to go visit them in Panama with me! After that we went to go visit my Alama Mater, Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Pictures up next….
After the race in lake placid, we were given a few more weeks to practice and then went home for the Holidays. I was unfortunately only able to stay home for a very short time, and then came back to Lake Placid to work while we still had time off. Then I continued to train in Lake Placid on the track once it was open again. In early February I was asked to join some drivers on the world cup circuit as a brakeman for the races in Whistler and Calgary. I jumped at the opportunity, however the day of my departure I was informed that I had a herniated disc in my back between my L5 and S1 vertebrae. I had been having a lot of trouble with my back, especially after certain lifts, I was hoping it was something that would go away or was just muscular, but that was not the case. I still went up to Whistler, but cut the trip short because I was in a lot of pain and being a brakeman at speeds of 141km/hr was making my back much worse. I went home to visit Excelsior Orthopedics in Buffalo and figured out a plan to get myself better so that I could take advantage of the time the track would remain open to practice driving.
Hello everyone! I am so terribly sorry for this long long long delay in my blogging. I have been dealing with quite a lot, from family problems, financial struggles, back injuries… among the rest. I will do my best to fill all of you in with some photos along the way!
