Driving school is over :( The International driving school was spectacular! The coaches were so awesome and helpful. Thursday was my first day from the top -it was absolutely terrifying but making it down was such an accomplished feeling. Those first few runs from the top weren’t so great, but Friday I had my last three trips down and they all went really well. We had an end of the week party yesterday which was a great time too. Now I have some important decisions to start making….
Driving is awesome!!!! It is SO fun and such a rush it’s incredible and it’s exciting to have the front seat perspective! Megan and I are braking for each other, so she will take two runs as a driver and i’ll brake then we switch (and we alternate who goes first each day). There are 20 turns in the track, and we took two days at start four which puts your into curve 9 and it’s pretty slow and gives you a good feel for driving. Then we moved up to start 3 -which puts you into curve 4 and is much much faster! This week is the FIBT school -an international school with drivers from all over the world, I’m sure it will be a blast! Actually, next Monday will be the one year anniversary of my first bobsled experience… Only this time I’m driving (and not screaming the whole way down the hill)!
Presently, I am in the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid surrounded by about four feet of snow. I have been breaking since last week -practicing my push, lifting and running (I missed the weight room so much!). Next Tuesday Megan Hill and I will start driving school here in Lake Placid! The first week will be the USBSF (united states bobsled and skeleton federation) driving school and the second week will be an international driving school where countries from all over the world send new drivers, and coaches from all over the world come -and we all help each other to make it down the track. I will keep posting updates once driving school gets started!
